LTU develops methods for modelling and optimization of district energy
Researchers at Luleå University of Technology (LTU) contribute with their competences in control optimization of thermal grids and energy system modelling
As one of the work package leaders in the Flexi-Sync project, LTU is working with characterization of flexibility, optimization approaches and identification of the principles and aspects that needs to be considered in the design stage when planning for operational flexibility. In short it means that the researchers primarily work with methods for modelling and optimizing district heating and cooling systems.
"Optimizing district heating and district cooling will become even more important. The district heating grids also have the potential to act based on fluctuations between electricity demand and electricity production from weather-dependent production, such as wind and solar energy", says Anna Krook-Riekkola, associate senior lecturer at LTU, in an article published at the university website External link, opens in new window..
